Police, class organs and families participate in an act for the valorization of life in Joinville

Police officers, representatives of class organs and relatives of the military police officer Joacir Roberto Vieira, shot dead last Monday, held an act for the valorization of life in Joinville. The peaceful demonstration began around 10am this Saturday (2) in Praça da Bandeira, Central region, and was attended by about 70 people, many of them, with T-shirts asking for justice.

The act was led by the Association of Squares of the State of Santa Catarina (Aprasc), which is constituted by the military squares of the State, and had as objective to ask for more conditions and valorization of the work of public safety professionals. The act also recalled the deaths of three military policemen and a penitentiary agent in the cities of Joinville, Balneário Camboriú and Florianópolis. All registered in the month of August.

According to the president of the entity, Edson Fortuna, with regard to military police, the number is triple the deaths compared to last year. In 2016, a soldier died during an operation in Morro do Horácio, in the capital, in September.

- For us, this demonstration represents a milestone so that we can tell the people who run the public security organs of the State every day that we do not want to see more people dying because they have chosen this profession and that they are doing their jobs today in favor of society and not having recognition on the part of the rulers. We need to pass this message and dialogue with society, because it is unfortunate that from January to July 2017, we have the death of a policeman killed every 24 hours in Brazil, "he said.

The request was also reiterated by members of other public security entities, such as the National Association of Squares (Anaspra), Association of Penitentiary Agents and Socio-educational Security of Santa Catarina (AAPSS / SC) and Community Safety Council (Conseg).

Elisandro Lotin, president of Anaspra, stressed that it is necessary to dialogue with the population and the authorities and to raise awareness of the importance of public security workers in a society context.

- Public safety professionals are the wall that separates the state of well-being, the civilized state of a corporation and we do not have the due importance of society and the State. It is necessary that the government recognize these professionals, value them and from that we have the conditions to build a society with more harmony - emphasized.

Personal friend of PM Joacir Roberto Vieira, Aprasc Human Rights coordinator, José Dias, participated in the protest and charged more protection to the police, who according to him are exposed as a result of the lack of support so that an effective response can be given against actions criminals.

- Joacir was committed to family and profession, was an exemplary cop and was killed for being an acting policeman, he was killed for it. We need to stop this situation, Dias said.

For Aprasc president Edson Fortuna, Santa Catarina meets conditions and has instruments to transform the perplexity into practical actions that can change the reality that the area of public security faces.

- There is still time, Santa Catarina is an organized state and has a differential of other states that is the support of the population, who believes in the work of the military police and entities that know its importance, finalized.
